Nothing scares a human being more than the realisation a person can truly know them; a feeling of nudity far beyond the boundaries of physicality; looking into someone’s eyes whilst they delicately unwind you. Stripping down the walls of your being brick by brick, your futility is matched only by your fear of falling too deep again; depths of vulnerability no one could ever return; drowning in an ocean of emancipation. Wasn’t this everything you’d ever wanted though? To transcend with someone whose insurmountable devotion and unwavering levels of empathy revealed the true extent to which love has scarred your body, but whom would take your pain and wear it as their own if you’d only ask. After all, what is a king without his queen?
If only you could give yourself to him, if only you could let yourself connect on a level you thought forever lost for a final time. It is a burden we all must bear, when the time is right, opening ones heart and mind to the dissection of others, but you need not fear this with him. Every day that passes you feel his mind undressing you further whilst the defence mechanisms you’d carefully put in place lay on the floor in pieces; he’s breaking you down one secret, one worry, one misgiving thought at a time; he’s doing this all for you. This is what falling in love feels like: a weakening, your nadir. And so you weep.
“It is okay to cry”, he tells you, “pain tells us this is real.”
